Lord Black: “Bowled over” – Journalists’ Charity Award

Lord Black was “bowled over” to be awarded the Journalists’ Charity Award 2016 at  the Society of Editors' Press Awards ceremony for his work in supporting the Journalists’ Charity which, since the 1860s, has been the leading charity for all journalists and their families in times of need with grants and other forms of financial assistance.

The annual event in central London, which salutes the quality, diversity and success of national newspaper journalism, the Charity told how Lord Black “never stops fighting for good journalism, whether it’s working behind the scenes shaping regulation, robustly fighting one of the biggest threats we face today - Section 40 - or supporting various industry organisations.”

Following the ceremony, Lord Black said:

“I’ve been working in the newspaper industry for over twenty years and The Journalists Charity is the glue that binds our robust and competitive industry together.

“The Charity is very close to my heart and I will continue to work hard for it, but to be honoured with this award is humbling.”
